BHAA Teachers – (2016 Weekly Report #40)

Well done to all competing and training this week. We had some runners in action this weekend in preparation for the SSE Airtricity Dublin City Marathon, taking place on Sunday 30th October, with some more athletes opening up their Cross Country tabs.


The Athletics Ireland Autumn Open Cross Country Festival will take place in The National Sports Campus Abbotstown this Sunday 16th Oct. The next race on the BHAA XC calendar is the Irish Life XC taking place on the Santry Demense on Sat. 17th Nov. with 6k combined start. This is the 2nd race of the BHAA XC 2016 Calendar/Winter League. See link here: https://bhaa.ie/events/irish-life-cc-2016/


 

Up first, we had CSH’ers travelling to the grounds of Castleknock College for the BHAA Teachers XC, ladies 2mile and mens 4mile races. In the ladies 2mile first of our girls home was Ashley Ryan in 5th, super running by Ashley. Laura Cullen had yet another great performance in 10th place, with Brid Ryan running well also in 15th place. Aoife Carragher was in action again, finishing in 20th place with Andrea Doyle in 38th.


Neil O’Rourke opened up his XC season with a 7th place finish in the mens race, with Jason Reilly in 31st, Dave Hipwell following closely in 34th, Martin Prunty in 39th, Patrick O’Reilly returning to racing in 49th and Noel Ryan in 58th. Christy Smyth had a great race finishing in 64th, followed by Paul Cullen in 66th and Nick Devery in 67th. Well done to Tony Keegan, a big congratulations to Joe Delaney who had his first BHAA race in over 3 years, and well done to Paul McEvoy in action also. Congratulations to Lorraine Devine, Podge Coyle, Paul Pugh and Stephen Downey who completed the Irish 3/4 marathon today in lovely running conditions in Enfield Co. Meath. Lorraine Devine finished in 2hrs56mins36secs, a great run breaking the 3 hour mark.


Podge Coyle finished in an impressive 24th place, in a time of 2hrs12mins02secs. Paul Pugh had an excellent run in 2hrs40mins50secs and Stephen Downey running well also in 3hrs04mins28secs.
