Dublin Half Marathon – (2016 Weekly Report #36-38)

The following is a run-down on the last few weeks of competing. Race reports will return to their usual Sunday night weekly slot (just in time for the XC Season and Marathon).


Well done to all CSH’ers competing over the last few weeks, and a big special thank you to all of you who volunteered to marshal the Dublin Half Marathon. The BHAA Pfizer 5k took place on the 10th Sept. 2016, with a men and ladies combined start. Grainne Butler finished in 24th place, winning her F50 category, excellent running by Grainne. Eithne NiMhurchadha was in action also, Winning her F40 category. Well done to Tom Turner who finished in 77th place, taking Silver in his M70 category. Congratulations to Sonia Carey who took the club colours to Newcastle, England completing in the Great North Run Half Marathon in a time of 1hr51mins44secs on Sept. 12th.


The New Ireland Rathfarnham 5k took place on the 25th Sept. with some CSH’ers in action. Grainne Butler continuing her excellent form with 29th lady overall and Winning her F50 category, well done to Grainne. Mags McCreary had a great race to finish 69th overall female and 2nd in her F60 category. Vincent O’Neill was in action for the men, coming 4th in his M60 category in sub 20mins, impressive running by Vincent. Andrew Moore was also in action on the 25th Sept. coming 3rd in the Wildwood Wild Run Festival 10k Trial run. Super running by Andrew.


In the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon Race Series Half Marathon Mella O’Neill was first of our ladies home in 1hr36mins50secs, placing 13th in her F40 category, well done to Mella, Maria Pozzo was next home in 1hr46mins with Marie O’Connell in a time of 1hr46mins05secs. Well done to Marie Norris who finished in 1hr53mins54secs.


A big congratulations to Paul O’ Neill who finished 74th Senior Man in a time of 1hr25mins53secs, a big leap in performance for Paul. Well done also to Stephen Caul who finished in a time of 1hr36mins35secs and Paul Pugh who finished in 1hr42mins35secs.
