First in action was Lorraine Lynch who ran a super P.B. in the West Waterford Half Marathon in cold conditions on Saturday morning. Well done to Lorraine, full results should be posted in the coming days on the West Waterford website: http://www.waterfordachalf.com/results/
Next up, with many club athletes reporting for Dublin Masters duty on Sunday, there was a modest crowd of CSH’ers taking part in the Business Houses Athletic Association (BHAA) Bank of Ireland XC race at Tymon Park on Saturday morning. Margaret Moloney braved the wet and mucky conditions in the ladies 2 mile, finishing 33rd. Neil O’ Rourke returned to duty with 5th place in the men’s 4 mile, followed by Jason Reilly in 24th, Patrick ‘Podge’ Coyle 44th, Eoin Kealy 48th, Paul O’ Neill 66th. Also fine running by Loughlin Campion Sr., Owen McFeely, Tony Keegan & Paul McEvoy. Tom Turner took 2nd place in o70, very well done to Tom. The XC continued on Sunday in St. Annes Park with the highly competitive Dublin Masters XC Championships. The ladies 3K and men’s 6k races are combined category races with each category very competitive throughout. The ladies team, once again showing how it’s done, by taking home bronze medals in the o35 team event. Anna Sadowska led the team home claiming individual Silver and Silver in her age category, backed up strongly by Shirley Mitchell 12th, Siobhan Carrol 18th, Claire Egan 20th & Marie Norris. A superb performance by all.
The men’s team were also in great form with impressive races by Ronan Ward & Paul Cowhie (leading the men home in 22nd place overall) claiming Silver Medals in their respective categories, the lads were backed up by Ger Clerkin 63rd, Colm Brady 77th, Sean Ryan, Nick Devery & Mick Fennell. The mens o50 team were successful in securing Bronze medals with Paul Cowhie, Sean Ryan, Ronan Ward, Nick Devery & Mick Fennell.
