Irish Runner 5k 2019 (May 4th, 2019)

Well done to everyone who raced in the new Irish Runner 5k last weekend. The race, which also incorporates the National 5k championships, took place in the Phoenix Park. Bit of a change from Madrid but thankfully the sun decided to make an appearance so too much of a shock to the system!

Yet again it was our “nifty over-fifty” men who showed us how it’s done. The team consisting of Paul Cowhie, Sean Ryan and Andy Davies did one better this week and finished first-place team in the M55 category. Paul had a tremendous run, finishing in 16:54, first in his age category. Sean Ryan also had a great run, bang on 19 minutes and third in his age category. Andy Davies also came in under 20 minutes – 19:38. Very well done gents!

We had a few other racers on the day. Mark Carroll finished in 20:46. Then it was the turn of the girls with Aislinn Ahern finishing in 20:49 and Ann Foran not far behind in 20:55. Owen McFeely obviously wasn’t feeling the affects of Madrid with his finishing time of 22 minutes. Joe Delaney continues to build a bit of form, finishing in 24:35, followed by Marie Norris in 26:34 and Margaret Maloney in 28:50.

Well done to everyone racing.

BHAA BMS 5k (May 2nd, 2019)

There was more 5k road action earlier in the week with the BHAA BMS 5k taking place on the grounds of the Bristol Meyers Squibb facility out in Blanchardstown. It’s a pancake flat course so good for targeting a time.

First club member home was Patrick Coyle, 9th overall in a time of 17:02. Well done Podge. Next was Andy Davies in 20:04, obviously keeping his powder dry for the National 5k. Andy was followed by Brian Boland in 21:51 and Maria Pozo in 23:01. Well done guys.
