    AAI Autumn Cross Country & Masters Trials – (2016 Weekly Report #41)

    Well done to everyone in action this week, training or competing. We are now only 2 weeks away from the SSE Airtricity Dublin City Marathon, taking place on Sunday 30th October (a big thank you also to anyone who has volunteered for stewarding).
    The next race on the BHAA XC calendar is the Irish Life XC taking place on the Santry Demense on Sat. 17th Nov. with 6k combined start. This is the 2nd race of the BHAA XC 2016 Calendar/Winter League. See link here: https://bhaa.ie/events/irish-life-cc-2016/
    First up, congratulations to Mairead O’Saughnessy who was female winner in yesterdays St. Annes parkrun. Excellent running by Mairead.
    We had a crew of CSH’ers lads competing today in the Athletics Ireland Autumn Open Cross Country Festival (formerly the Gerry Farnan XC) including the Masters Trials in Abbotstown, Dublin. Neil O’Rourke was 44th overall (27th Senior Male) in the 8,000m race, Paul Cowhie was 101st overall (6th in the M50 category), Dave Hipwell was 16th place in the M45 Category with Mick Fennell finishing 10th in the M55 category.     BHAA Teachers – (2016 Weekly Report #40)

    Well done to all competing and training this week. We had some runners in action this weekend in preparation for the SSE Airtricity Dublin City Marathon, taking place on Sunday 30th October, with some more athletes opening up their Cross Country tabs.

      Up first, we had CSH’ers travelling to the grounds of Castleknock College for the BHAA Teachers XC, ladies 2mile and mens 4mile races. In the ladies 2mile first of our girls home was Ashley Ryan in 5th, super running by Ashley. Laura Cullen had yet another great performance in 10th place, with Brid Ryan running well also in 15th place. Aoife Carragher was in action again, finishing in 20th place with Andrea Doyle in 38th.
    Neil O’Rourke opened up his XC season with a 7th place finish in the mens race, with Jason Reilly in 31st, Dave Hipwell following closely in 34th, Martin Prunty in 39th, Patrick O’Reilly returning to racing in 49th and Noel Ryan in 58th. Christy Smyth had a great race finishing in 64th, followed by Paul Cullen in 66th and Nick Devery in 67th. Well done to Tony Keegan, a big congratulations to Joe Delaney who had his first BHAA race in over 3 years, and well done to Paul McEvoy in action also.     Congratulations to Lorraine Devine, Podge Coyle, Paul Pugh and Stephen Downey who completed the Irish 3/4 marathon today in lovely running conditions in Enfield Co. Meath. Lorraine Devine finished in 2hrs56mins36secs, a great run breaking the 3 hour mark.
    Podge Coyle finished in an impressive 24th place, in a time of 2hrs12mins02secs. Paul Pugh had an excellent run in 2hrs40mins50secs and Stephen Downey running well also in 3hrs04mins28secs.     Dublin Novice XC – (2016 Weekly Report #39)

    Well done to everyone competing and training this week. Training has continued on all fronts this with Tuesday and Thursday evenings 7pm sessions at CSH Clubhouse – Phoenix Park. Saturday morning 10am session in Morton Stadium, Santry & at CSH Clubhouse. Sunday morning 9:30am long-run from CSH Clubhouse.
    The next race on the BHAA calendar is the Castleknock College Teachers XC taking place on the grounds of Castleknock College on Sat. 8th Oct. with 4miles for the men and 2miles for the ladies. This is the first race of the BHAA XC 2016 Calendar/Winter League. See Info link: https://bhaa.ie/events/teachers-cross-country-2016/
    We had a crew of Harriers kicking of their XC season today on home soil in Phoenix Park Magazine Fort, for the Dublin Athletics Board Dublin Novice Championships. With some absences today there were fine performances all round nonetheless with CSH teams in both the ladies and men’s events.
    Ashley Pia Ryan had an excellent race to finish in 10th place overall in the ladies, following closely was Laura Cullen with another fine race to finish 15th, super running by the two girls. Next in was Joan O’Callaghan with a great race in 43rd place, with Aoife Carragher in 47th, Mairead O’Saughnessy in 48th and Marie O’Connell in 60th.     In the men’s 6k race Eoin Devlin had a top-notch race to finish in 6th place, great running by Eoin. Next in for the lads were Podge Coyle in 52nd and Jason Reilly in 57th, respectively. well done to both finishing inside the top 60. Eanna Kavanagh has made another big stride forward with 61st place, with Dave Hipwell following closely in 62nd. Paul O’Neill had a fine run in 66th, just a week after the Dublin Half Marathon.
