Dublin Half Marathon – (2016 Weekly Report #36-38)
October 2, 2016The following is a run-down on the last few weeks of competing. Race reports will return to their usual Sunday night weekly slot (just in time for the XC Season and Marathon).
Well done to all CSH’ers competing over the last few weeks, and a big special thank you to all of you who volunteered to marshal the Dublin Half Marathon. The BHAA Pfizer 5k took place on the 10th Sept. 2016, with a men and ladies combined start. Grainne Butler finished in 24th place, winning her F50 category, excellent running by Grainne. Eithne NiMhurchadha was in action also, Winning her F40 category. Well done to Tom Turner who finished in 77th place, taking Silver in his M70 category. Congratulations to Sonia Carey who took the club colours to Newcastle, England completing in the Great North Run Half Marathon in a time of 1hr51mins44secs on Sept. 12th.
The New Ireland Rathfarnham 5k took place on the 25th Sept. with some CSH’ers in action. Grainne Butler continuing her excellent form with 29th lady overall and Winning her F50 category, well done to Grainne. Mags McCreary had a great race to finish 69th overall female and 2nd in her F60 category. Vincent O’Neill was in action for the men, coming 4th in his M60 category in sub 20mins, impressive running by Vincent. Andrew Moore was also in action on the 25th Sept. coming 3rd in the Wildwood Wild Run Festival 10k Trial run. Super running by Andrew.
In the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon Race Series Half Marathon Mella O’Neill was first of our ladies home in 1hr36mins50secs, placing 13th in her F40 category, well done to Mella, Maria Pozzo was next home in 1hr46mins with Marie O’Connell in a time of 1hr46mins05secs. Well done to Marie Norris who finished in 1hr53mins54secs.
A big congratulations to Paul O’ Neill who finished 74th Senior Man in a time of 1hr25mins53secs, a big leap in performance for Paul. Well done also to Stephen Caul who finished in a time of 1hr36mins35secs and Paul Pugh who finished in 1hr42mins35secs. The Lakes 10k – (2016 Weekly Report #35)

The SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon Race Series ‘Half Marathon’ will take place on 24th September, with entries closing on the 9th Sept: http://sseairtricitydublinmarathon.ie/race/dublin-half-marathon/ Well done to all in action this week….. and we hope everyone enjoyed the ‘Summer’ BBQ last night.
A modest crew of CSH’ers took to the picturesque lands of Blessington, Co. Wicklow for ‘The Lakes 10k’, organised by Lakeshore Striders AC. The morning turned out to be another washout, with our lads team out braving the wind and rain. Neil O’ Rourke closed out his Summer season with a fine 4th place finish, in a time of 33mins32secs. Just behind in 5th place was Eoin Devlin, who had a great race running a new PB time of 34:12. Jason Reilly was 14th in 36:46. Andrew Moore was 20th in 37:12, with a much improved performance by Eanna Kavanagh in 24th. Just behind Eanna in 25th was Podge Coyle, with Eoin Kealy in 32nd. Double Championship Gold for Shirley / Double National Silver for Eithne – (2016 Weekly Report #34)

Well done to Eithne Ni Mhurchadha who competed in the Athletics Ireland GloHealth National Masters Track & Field Championships in Tullamore last Sunday. Eithne returned as a Double National Silver with 2nd in the w40 Javelin and 2nd in the w40 Discus. Super throwing by Eithne. Dublin Athletics Board issued results early this week for the Dublin 10 Mile Championships, which was run in conjunction with our very own Frank Duffy 10 last Saturday. The ladies were outright winners of the team prize with Shirley Mitchell, Siobhan Carroll, Ashley Ryan and Claire Egan claiming Dublin Championship Gold, a fabulous achievement. In the w35 category Siobhan Carroll was 2nd with Claire Egan in 3rd, excellent results. Shirley Mitchell was winner of the w40 category picking up double Dublin Championship Gold. Well done to all.
The men’s team had to settle for a marginal 4th place finish in the team prize, however, great performances nonetheless amongst stiff competition. Congratulations to Lorraine Lynch who had a great race in the Tullamore Harriers Quinlan Cup Half Marathon finishing 17th female overall and 12th Senior, in a time of 1hr42mins23secs. Great running by Lorraine.
