Looking Ahead – (2016 Weekly Report #27)
July 10, 2016It was a quiet week for racing as we look ahead to the SSE Airtricity Fingal 10k, in Swords on the 24th July, run as part of the Dublin Marathon Race Series.
The BHAA DCC 5K will take place in Irishtown on the 20th July: https://bhaa.ie/events/dcc-5k-2016/
Track sessions are now taking place in Morton Stadium, Santry on Saturday mornings at 10am. Training on Tuesday’s will now take place in Phoenix Park for everyone. Thursday and Sundays will resume as normal.
Well done to all who competed in our annual club 2 mile league. The winner of the 2016 2 mile league was Vincent O’Neill. In second place was Maria Pozza, with 2015 winner Nick Devery and Noel Ryan tied for 3rd. This morning there was a great attendance for the prize giving and recap on the last few months of club achievements well done to all (and thanks to Joe for the pictures).

Pheonix Park 5km – (2016 Weekly Report #26)

Well done to all who competed in our annual club 2 mile league. The winner of the 2016 2 mile league will then be announced at a club coffee morning on Sunday the 10th after training. Please be prepared for before/after the coffee with your club vests, t-shirts, gear etc, we’ll use the opportunity to take a few nice group shots for updating the website/facebook/etc.

Congratulations to all competing in the Business House Athletic Association Runlogic Pheonix Park 5km Trail Run on Tuesday 28th June on home soil in Pheonix Park. Caroline Fallon was racing, coming 5th in her category. Theresa Cullivan was 9th Senior lady home, great running by Theresa. Magdalena Supernat and Eithne Ni Mhurchadha were competing too, well done to all.
Dave Hipwell was first of the lads finishing in 11th place and 3rd in his category. Dave was followed closely by Colm Brady in 14th place and 4th in his category. Bren Farrell and Nick Devery were 32nd and 33rd respectively, with Nick finishing 2nd in his category. Owen McFeely was 62nd and 3rd in his category with Stephen Downey and John Breslin in 68th and 69th. Tom Turner was 2nd in his category, with Paul McEvoy back in action after injury. If anyone fancies something off the beaten track (or in this case… on a beaten track) the Business House Athletic Association Runlogic Pheonix Park 5km Trail Run will take place on Tuesday 28th June at 7:30: https://bhaa.ie/events/runlogic-phoenix-5km-trail-2016/

Eithne Ni Mhurchadha was competing on Wednesday night in the Dublin Athletics Board Graded Meet 5, incorporating the Dublin Senior Championships. Eithne was 2nd in the Discus (picking up Dublin Senior Silver), and 5th in the Javelin. Well done to Eithne, making a nice return to throwing. Bernard Duggan made his return to action on Friday evening following injury, clocking a splendid 16mins 30secs in the St. Coca’s AC Kilcock 5k. Paul Cowhie was next home finishing 4th in his M50 category, followed by Podge Coyle in 63rd. Well done to Neil O’Rourke who was completed his first Glohealth Athletics Ireland National Senior Track and Field Championships today, running in the 5,000m final and clocking 16mins even.
